Washington Boomers Ready to Retire, Migrating South to the Sunny Coachella Valley

Thousands of Boomers postponed retirement, after taking a big financial hit during the 2007-2014 housing and financial crises.

For many, it took the recent stock market boom to bring back retirement accounts. And, in areas of high employment like Seattle, keeping their homes off the market helped add to a shortage of inventory that has pushed housing prices to unheard of highs.

For certain, all things pointed to 2020 being a great year for work weary Baby Boomers to cash out their homes and invest their healthy gains in the desert home of their dreams, in the Greater Palms Springs area.

Will Covid-19 Sideline Boomers, Again?

While we don’t know for certain, it could be that regardless of temporary stock portfolio loses, the threat of a health scare like Covid-19, will have some Boomers unwilling to endure another, potentially long delay in their retirement.

The Boeing Company is certainly doing its part to help fence-sitting retirees along. April 2, Boeing announced that they are offering generous severance packages to workers willing to take retirement now. That could be just the juice needed, to create a mid-to late year home-buying and selling tsunami.
