Today, thanks to the longest running bull market on record and strong employment, many Baby Boomers and Gen-X’ers are staking a claim in the California desert.

With renewed finances and optimism, home buyers appear to be capitalizing on the opportunity to buy their dream vacation and retirement homes, and for many, the city of La Quinta is at the top of the list. 

During the past six months, on average Coachella Valley home purchases have increased and prices along with them. The city of La Quinta is among those in the Valley seeing high single and double digit monthly year-over-year increases. 

Perhaps another key factor for the increased attraction is the good work being done by the City of La Quinta and joint Coachella Valley Economic Development programs, to build awareness, promote and expand the area’s economy.  

Tourism and Hospitality is the areas primary industry and the cities of La Quinta, Indio and Indian Wells are at the epicenter for the areas largest and most lucrative events.  Annually, these events lure top talent, celebrities, athletes, and millions of spectators, participants and media, from every corner of the world.

A few like the La Quinta Arts Festival, CoachellaFest and StageCoach Festivals, PGA CareerBuilder Challenge, and BNP Paribas Tennis top most everyone’s list, although thousands come for the famed international Equestrian Hunter/Jumper and Polo Competitions.

Prices there range from $300,000 to luxury homes topping at about $780,000 for a 2,700+ sq. ft. home, with pool, spa and majestic mountain views.
