  • Sep. 14: The Eagle Huntress tells the story of a 13-year-old girl from a nomadic tribe in Mongolia takes on a traditionally male role by raising an eagle and teaching it to hunt for meat and fur. This 2016 film is the winner of nine film awards and was nominated for nineteen. Rated: G, Running time: 1 hour 27 minutes
  • Sep 21: The Birds, Birds suddenly begin to attack people in this classic, 1963 thriller from director Alfred Hitchcock starring Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor. Nominated for an Oscar, The Birds is a winner of a Golden Globe and recipient of an Edgar Allan Poe Award. Rated: PG-13, Running time: 1 hour 59 minutes.
  • Sep. 28:  A Birder’s Guide to Everything, a group of teenage birders embark on a quest to find a bird that’s thought to be extinct. The 2013 adventure film is a winner of two international film festival awards. Rated: PG-13, Running time: 1 hour 26 minutes.

Thank goodness that the folks at the City of Rancho Mirage have thought about that. With the construction of the Observatory at the Rancho Mirage Library, we get to remind ourselves of the exquisite beauty and symmetry of the world and universe that surrounds us.

The Rancho Mirage Observatory is the first public telescope in the Coachella Valley. Located at the Rancho La Quinta Library, it is an automated state of the art research Observatory offering professional and amateur astronomers the ability to view our Galaxy!

Coachella Valley Market Report: Low inventory is Driving Home Prices Higher, and Buyers are Paying Them!

It seems that more of our Coachella Valley neighbors are staying put, resulting in far fewer homes on the market in July 2018, as compared to July 2017. Whatever the reason…great weather, shopping, entertainment, the result is that there are fewer homes on the market.

Good news is, the flow of home shoppers and buyers into the Palm Springs desert has not ebbed, and in fact, seems to be increasing. What this means is that home prices are rising in response to the reduced inventory, and even better, buyers are paying the higher prices!

Is Coachella Valley in a Seller’s Market?

For the past six months people have been buying into a higher priced market. In many Coachella Valley cities and neighborhoods, homes are selling at higher prices, and often are selling in fewer days on market than last year, or even  past few months. Thus far, in these markets, real estate indicators are favoring home sellers. 

Typically, people are willing buy into a market and pay higher prices when they are confident about the area’s future economy. While it’s impossible to tell what is driving current home buyer decisions, optimism about the future of the Country and Coachella Valley’s economies must be a part of them. And, that’s something we can all rally behind!
